Development update

August 23, 2026

A clearer public development home for following what has shipped and what comes next.

Development hub

  • Added a main Development page that leads clearly to the Changelog and Roadmap.
  • Added a Development menu to the main website navigation with direct links to the development home, Changelog, and Roadmap.
  • Split the former combined Updates page into a shipped-work changelog and a future-only roadmap.
  • Kept the former /updates address as a permanent redirect so existing links continue to reach the roadmap.

Roadmap rebuild

  • Removed the already-live base game from the roadmap so planned work is not confused with released features.
  • Expanded all nine major expansions into detailed, independently usable workstreams based on the original game requirements and later expansion records.
  • Expanded the individual feature-release section for smaller content, accessibility, mobile, recovery, customization, scenario, localization, security, performance, balance, and bug-fix releases.

Presentation and discovery

  • Reduced the roadmap section-heading size so Expansion roadmap and Individual feature releases remain full-width, single-line headings on larger screens.
  • Added both development pages to the public sitemap and connected them in the footer.

Version 1 · Initial launch

June 15, 2026

The first live version of Trade Empire: a persistent browser game about finding inventory, judging risk, and building a resale operation.

Finding and buying inventory

  • Eight live sourcing channels: walk-in sellers, storage auctions, liquidation lots, garage sales, estate sales, flea markets, online listings, and wholesale lots.
  • Opportunity pages with limited information, inspections, previews, research, offers, counteroffers, callbacks, live bidding, and the option to walk away.
  • Different deal types carry their own asking prices or bids, competitors, deadlines, fees, lot sizes, confidence levels, and acquisition risks.

Learning what an item is worth

  • A live catalog of 116 item archetypes across 35 categories, with category, condition, authenticity, completeness, demand, legal status, and estimated value affecting each find.
  • Item dossiers that preserve inspection evidence, working identification, comparable sales, research history, and the player’s current level of confidence.
  • Hands-on inspection, identification, diagnosis, parts sourcing, and multi-session work orders for inventory that needs more attention before sale.

Inventory and selling

  • Persistent inventory with purchase cost, money invested, current estimate, location, age, condition, authenticity, status, and projected margin.
  • Cleaning, repair, restoration, authentication, parts work, transfers, and other item improvements with time, cost, and outcome tradeoffs.
  • Listings, buyer offers, counteroffers, market demand, fees, returns, and sale results that feed back into cash and inventory history.

Running the operation

  • A command center for available cash, inventory value, projected net, current opportunities, market movement, and active commitments.
  • Business pages for equipment and assets, employees and assignments, compliance issues, pawn loans, locations, storage, and operating costs.
  • A sixteen-hour working day with visible action costs, eight-hour sleep, next-day market processing, expenses, projects, transfers, contracts, and rival moves.

Relationships and long-term progress

  • A contact network with sellers, buyers, experts, vendors, employees, and referral opportunities that persist beyond a single transaction.
  • Market trends and competing reseller activity that change which categories and opportunities deserve attention.
  • Guided opening goals, optional commitments, business identity choices, milestones, memorable finds, collection history, reputation, and legacy progress.

Accounts and saves

  • Persistent player accounts with registration, login, password recovery, password changes, and account controls.
  • Automatic end-of-day saves plus named checkpoints that players can create and restore from the Saves page.
  • Server-controlled game actions, player-isolated records, clean-operation reset, and account deletion.
